| Support & Assistance: Thunderbird Outgoing Mail
Configuring outgoing mail for the Mozilla Thunderbird email program is slightly different to that of outlook. By default, there is only one outgoing mail account even if there are several incoming mail accounts.
You can configure the outgoing mail server by going to: Tools -> Account Settings and then selecting "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".
You have two options:
- Use your ISP's mail server
If your ISP has provided you with an outgoing mail server setting, you may wish to use this. This is advisable by default unless you connect using different ISP's or have a portable computer.
If you are connecting using your ISP's mail server, please contact them for support and setup instructions. The setup information given below is most likely different to that provided by your ISP.
- Use Cloch Internet's outgoing mail server
This is advisable if you will be connecting at different locations or through different ISP's, or indeed if your ISP has not provided an outgoing mail server setting.
The settings are exactly the same as for your incoming mail server: Server Name: mail.yourdomainname.com (where yourdomainname.com is replaced with your actual domain name). User name and password: Your user name will be the same as your email address and your password will be the same as that used for your incoming mail server. There is no password entry box, Thunderbird will ask you for it when you next try to send a mail.
Please ensure that "Use secure connection" is set to "No"

If you need to use more than one outgoing mail server for some reason, you can do so by selecting "Advanced" and configuring more outgoing mail servers.
They can be assigned for use by particular mail accounts by: -> Selecting that mail account -> Selecting Server Settings -> Clicking the "Advanced" properties button -> Selecting the SMTP tab, and selecting the appropriate outgoing mail server from the list
