| Support & Assistance: Registering a Business Name
Registering a Business Name.
Registering a business name allows you to conduct business under another name eg: Matthew O'Flaherty, trading as "Storehouse".
Once you have a business name such as "Storehouse", you will be able to register the domain name, storehouse.ie. It is recommended that the business name follows exactly what the domain required, but it is likely (though not definite) that if your business name was Matt's Storehouse, you could still register storehouse.ie.
If you deal with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) directly online, the fee is only €20. This is a very fast and efficient method of getting your business name.
Please see the CRO website here.
Any documentation can be faxed to us on 353 1 4430729 or scanned and sent as an email. All that is really required however, is the business name number. Once we receive the required documentation, it takes a maximum of 2 working days to complete the registration process.
If you are waiting on your Certificate and you want speed things along you can also go to the CRO website at http://www.cro.ie/ (click on Company Search left hand side, then search), type in the name of the Business you want to check and then click on submit. If it has been registered it should come up, if it doesn't it means that it isn't registered yet.
Some Facts:
- A business name does not require any annual returns
- The only charge is the once off registration fee
- You are not required to register for tax or VAT
