| Support & Assistance: MS Exchange Server Setup
Setup/Configuration of MS Exhange Server
This article is to explain the procedure and requirements for setting up an MS Exchange server or any other mail server with Cloch Internet. This article relates to the hosting/DNS configuration only.
Cloch Internet cannot provide support or assistance with the configuration or setup of the mails server itself unless a support contract has been entered into.
Requirements:
- Domain DNS hosted/registered with Cloch Internet
- Static IP address & always on Internet connection (broadband, leased line etc)
- Backup MX account with Cloch Internet (if backup mailserver required) Can be ordered here.
Procedure:
- Configure your mail server setup as required.
- When you are ready to go live, notify Cloch Internet via support ticket.
- The MX record which routes email to a domain, will be set to the IP address of your mail server
- If backup mail server service has been purchased, a secondary MX record will be setup with Cloch to hold any email sent to your domain name in the event your mail server is unreachable (power outage, loss of Internet connection etc)
Notes: Unless you have a knowledgeable and reliable IT person or support provider to configure your mail server set-up, we recommend you do not run your own mail server.
If you have users that work outside the office, then you will have to provide some sort of access solution for them to access their mail on your server, VPN or Exchange Webmail system etc.
Your mail will not have Spam and Virus scanning performed on it's mail by Cloch Internet as the email is routed directly to your own server.
